Antonio Romoleroux was born in Quito, Ecuador, in 1968. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of the Arts in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and his Bachelor’s degree in Plastic Arts from the College of Arts at the Central University of Ecuador.
Since his first exhibition in 1987, Romoleroux’s work has been featured in 41 solo and 200 group exhibitions at major galleries and institutions in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Recent exhibitions include: “Biophilic” PUCE Cultural Center, in 2023; “The Message of the Models,” at Kuntraum Artescena, Leipzig, Germany, in 2021; “Antonio Romoleroux, Anthology,” at the PUCE Cultural Center, Quito, in 2018; “Dass Bewusste Ich,” at the Ecuadorian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, in 2015; “Antonio Romoleroux,” Queens Museum, New York, in 2010.
Antonio Romoleroux has received 25 awards and distinctions in recognition of his cultural achievements. He notably received: Overall Rank 1, International Art Contest, Talentila Foundation, in Hisar, India, in 2024; the Premiazione alla Carriera, Associazione Culturale Narda Martinez Pittrice, in Varese, Italy, in 2023; the Validation of Professional Career, University of the Arts, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 2023; the Recognition of Artistic Career by the Consulate of Ecuador in Los Angeles, California, in 2021; he was awarded the Doctor Vicente Rocafuerte Decoration for Cultural Merit, National Assembly of Ecuador, in 2020; he received the Recognition of Artistic Career from the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador in 2019 and Kunstraum Artescena in Leipzig, Germany in 2018; He won First Prize in painting at the Mariano Aguilera Prize in 1995, as well as First Prize in Painting at the First National Youth Art Exhibition in 1991.
Romoleroux has been a visual arts teacher since 1994, and in 2024 he founded the Academia Artes Quito.
In 2021, she founded the International Resilience Center, which provides free psychological and psychiatric care.
